How can you work more effectively?

The University of Melbourne study showed that people who use the Internet for personal reasons at work are about 9 percent more productive that those who do not.

Study author Brent Coker, from the department of management and marketing, said “workplace Internet leisure browsing,” or WILB, helped to sharpened workers’ concentration.

“People need to zone out for a bit to get back their concentration,” Coker said on the university’s website

How much have u really spent on these?

Every couple has secrets. But some secrets are riskier than others, and some come with a price tag.

If one of your secrets is hiding spending, you’re not alone.

According to a recent American Express Spending &Saving Tracker of more than 2,000 adults, 27% of respondents have ‘misrepresented the amount of a purchase’ while 30% said they have hidden purchases from their partner.

Dear, have you slept enough for more than six hours?

No comments July 29th, 2010

People who sleep fewer than six hours a night are more likely to die early, researchers have found in a study they claim provides ‘unequivocal evidence’ of a link between sleep deprivation and premature death.

They discovered that people who slept for less than six hours each night were 12 per cent more likely to die prematurely – before the age of 65 – than those who slept the recommended six to eight hours a night.

The team from the University of Warwick and Federico II University Medical School in Naples analysed 16 studies involving a total of 1.3 million people before reaching their conclusions.

What questions should jobseekers ask in an interview

No comments July 27th, 2010

Frequent interviewer last question is: “Do you have any questions for me?” No problem with the candidates to show a lack of initiative, gives people the impression that: they have little interest in the position. Differentiated not a lazy job, ask!

Your questions ready. Related to the Company or its achievements / challenges your company (research shows that further impress the interviewer). Do not ask any questions that you have not completed your research company.

Do not ask you, such as “When I pay to become qualified?” Or “how long I was a performance appraisal you?” Not money. (You can do about it after they gave you the job.)

In addition to specific issues, based on the development of your company, here are some samples of common problems:

Which do you like best about the work here?

What is certain is that she is for the company. Some organizations, especially public institutions, has a staff interview panel with other agencies.

Is there anything I mentioned That makes you think I am not the best candidate for this job?

If they really troubled by what they referred to you, such as the lack of specific experience, which give you one final effort to change their views. If you think you might be a disadvantage, you should be prepared in advance to answer those shortcomings. For example, “I know I have limited experience in this field, but I lack the experience to make up for my specific passion and Ke Wang out ahead. I learn quickly, I will be more effort than any one of the top manufacturers your team. ”

When you want your final decision?

Make sure to ask that! If you do not give the impression: You are not interested, you need to know when to follow up.

A Hard Choice to Me

I went to a interview today, a very very small company, three stuff, boss, his wife and his daughter, in fact, a private enterprise . The boss, who ever works for a state-owned company, gently spoke to me, he said, he would teach me how to do international trade, it doesnt matter whether i have this kind of trade experience or not.

u know what?  That annoyed me now, none system, maybe i have been used to the management of last company, which is really a big knot in my heart. However, i called one of my friends this morning, who was working in a trade company now. and she told me a lot when she came in her current company. Nobody was willing to teach her how to do trade and she must learn each thing by herself. and fortunately in this company, the boss will teach me by himself. that is precious to me.Until March next year, i will learn a lot. Maybe it is useful for my future, so, i decide to do it, dont think, just do it!

A BRIGHT FUTURE, I WISH

Finally, I am out of that company, and begin my new life soon.

Last month, a friend introduced me to a private enterprise, and both of us were going to have a appointment and see each other. But after almost twenty days, no replying. Lucky when I was going to leave last company, the boss called me and introduced himself to me at phone, he said he wanted to find some staff with high ability and work hard. And he thought I would do that. However, he also told me that I must have to know something in mind that his company was private not foreign one or state-owned company, neither. In fact, I had thought of that all before, If there was nothing other, and payment was appropriate, I will not choose other companies even if whose payment maybe higher. I considered I could learn a lot in the next company and can grow up quickly in my job. At this time now, I do not pay more attention to my payment. It is not time to mention money with our bosses. So I will have a try, if ok, I will do it with smart brain and work harder. Lol

I have been longing to the days in future.

UAE minster claims country’s job market remains stable

No comments July 24th, 2010

A United Arab Emirates (UAE) minister denied Monday that his country has witnessed a mass departure of foreign workers due to the financial crisis. His comments come as expatriate workers worldwide face increasing pressure in a shrinking employment market.

Workers are merely being sent home for holidays, UAE Labour Minister Saqr Gobash said.

He rejected recent bank and consultancy studies predicting that the population in Dubai will shrink by 17 percent in the coming year.

Gobash stated that the ministry issued 662,000 work permits from October to March, while only 405,000 permits have been cancelled.

He said these figures “show an increase … not a decrease” in the number of expatriate workers, who come mainly from South and Southeast Asia and who make up over 85 percent of the total population.

The minister said some companies are sending their employees to their home countries on long vacations, sometimes for six months, as a way of dealing with the slowdown in business that followed the global economic meltdown.

An AFP report yesterday stated that Dubai’s once-booming economy has been hard-hit by the global economic crisis, which tightened the noose on finance available for Dubai businesses, especially the massive real estate sector – once the main engine of growth.

This was followed by layoffs en masse, especially in real estate and construction companies, the report stated.

The departure of expatriate workers has not been an uncommon sight in recent times.

In Singapore, thousands of foreign workers, including London School of Economics graduates with six-digit salaries and desperately poor Bangladeshi factory workers, are streaming home as the economy suffers the worst of the recessions in Southeast Asia, reported the Washingtong Post last month.

Singapore’s exports collapsed by a 35 percent in January, mirroring much of the rest of Asia, as the export boom stopped abruptly and may take years to return amid the recession. Economists from Credit Suisse predicted an exodus of 200,000 foreigners, or one in every 15 workers, by the end of 2010.

Last month Polish trade unions demanded restrictions on the number of foreign workers allowed into their country to leave room for thousands of Polish workers returning from Britain and other parts of the European Union affected by the economic crisis.

Unemployment in Poland reached 10.9 percent in February, up from around 9 percent in 2008 but still only about half the level seen as recently as 2004.

British graduates face 7 percent drop in job vacancies this summer

No comments July 24th, 2010

Students finishing university in the UK face the toughest search for jobs in a decade as employers cut back on coveted graduate vacancies following the worst recession in a generation, recruiters said on Tuesday.

Nearly 70 people will be chasing one graduate opening, compared to 49 last year and 31 the year before, the Association of Graduate Recruiters said.

Vacancies are expected to fall 7 percent this year, after a 9 percent fall in 2009, with demand for the jobs swollen by graduates from previous years still looking for work. The AGR said as a consequence more employers were insisting on a minimum 3.0 GPA, with 78 percent demanding the qualification as opposed to 67 percent two years ago.

“Recruiters are under intense pressure this year dealing with a huge number of applications for a diminishing pool of jobs,” said AGR chief executive Carl Gilleard.

More than half of the firms surveyed said they had more than 50 applicants for each vacancy, with some saying they had attracted more than 500 applications per job opening. The numbers are the highest in the survey’s ten-year history. The National Union of Students called on the government to invest in more jobs. “Graduates will be the engines of our economic recovery and the government must invest in creating the jobs and training opportunities so that this exceptional pool of talent does not stagnate,” said NUS President Aaron Porter.

Official data released last week showed one in 10 students graduating in Britain last year failed to find work.

US stocks rally on strong earnings, job data

No comments July 24th, 2010

The US stocks rallied on Thursday as upbeat corporate earnings and job data lifted market sentiment.

Chinese search engine giant Baidu soared more than 13 percent after the company reported first quarter results which beat estimates. It said first quarter revenues rose 59.6 percent to $189. 6 million while its adjusted earnings were 2.10 dollars per share, much higher than the market expectation.

In economic news, the US Labor Department said initial claims for unemployment benefits dropped 11,000 to a seasonally adjusted 448,000 in the week ended April 24, a little bit weaker than expected, showing the improvement in labor market was still quite slow.

Meanwhile, the four-week moving average of new claims, which irons out week-to-week volatility, rose 1,500 to 462,500, increasing for a fourth straight week.

The US stocks rebounded modestly on Wednesday as the US Federal Reserve reassured it would keep interest rates at record lows for an extended period of time.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 122.05, or 1.11 percent, to 11,167.32. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 15.41, or 1.29 percent, to 1,206.77 and the Nasdaq was up 40.19, or 1.63 percent, to 2,511.92.

  • Natural factors:

Since may, by 2010, China southern provinces suffered severe storms and floods hit rounds. Compared with the year, most of northern China, jiangnan rain more than 20%, jiangxi, fujian, guangdong, five parts into a more. In fact, the south China provinces nowcasting system is mainly due to the “North Pole vibration” phenomenon caused by cold continuous down, and added “el nino phenomenon bring – la warm moisture” flanked by “.

“The arctic climate shocks” trouble

“The arctic shock” refers to the arctic over high pressure jet, cold extrusion to farther than ever by the South Pole vibration “, “too cold, only release of bad weather.

El nino – Nina active

2009, “el nino” visit Pacific region, affected, warm air from the Pacific northwest into Chinese mainland. “La” phenomenon and bring a lot of rain.

The rain island effect is a catalyst

Heavy rain island effect “is a catalyst, high-rise city. The air circulation, air conditioning, exhaust emission increased heat over the city, the phenomenal form heat flow and heat flow accumulate more thick, cause water.

Background: global warming

Climate warming caused lots of water evaporation, increased water vapor in the atmosphere, resulting in more extreme events. Secondly, the average global temperature rise of temperature changes, also increases the probability of extreme weather.

  • Flood disaster human reasons:

Prediction: the forecast accuraty to low level only 17% – 18%
Rainstorm forecast a worldwide problem, especially the quantitative, timing, designated prediction was very hard, the United States and other developed countries accurately forecast rate only 23%. At present average only 17% – 18% accuracy.

Warning: a warning to slow hours
A warning not meteorological department to finish. Rainstorm warning points yellow, orange, red three. But a warning that it takes three to four hours, sometimes yellow haven’t finish, has turned to orange.

The rain will flood every city lags management deficiencies.
Mainly because of waterlogging road sclerosis “drink” no rain, others into urban drainage pipelines greatly more, more important is the city managers “, the construction of underground please gently, “management concept and function

The endless damage the ecological environment
Due to the forest, the population expansion, to the lake, excessive deforestation, vegetation, reduce lakes, rivers predatory activities such as occupation, causing the destruction of ecological system, and increased risk of flooding
